The bulk of the contamination in a Cleanroom resides on the floor. It is important that consideration be given to the best flooring solution for your application.
The main types of Cleanroom flooring:
RUBBER FLOORING
We highly recommend nora Rubber Flooring, which is a rubber sheet good, which comes in 1 Metre Square Sheets (Approximately 10 Square Feet).
It is then cold welded in place and buff cleaned.
Industrial and life sciences facilities can use rubber floor coverings to better satisfy a broad range of operational and design requirements.
From extraordinary wear resistance (to handle the constant operation of forklift trucks) to static dissipative grounded flooring for use in cleanrooms and research labs working on sensitive electronics, nora rubber floor coverings offer exceptional durability, distinctive design options and cost-effective, easy-to-maintain industrial flooring solutions.
For industrial operations and life sciences research labs and production areas, nora rubber floor coverings set new standards for quality, functionality and design.
VINYL SEAMLESS
Seamless vinyl flooring is a cost-effective solution for small Cleanrooms where there is no requirement for the weight loading capacity of a Elastomeric Coatings such as Epoxy, Urethane or MMA.
Seamless flooring can also be coved up the walls to give it excellent cleanability at the walls and corners.
Disadvantages: Does not hold up under repeated heavy traffic.
EPOXY COATINGS
An Epoxy coating system is designed to provide aesthetic enhancement and protection to a surface. The best situation in which to specify a coating is where the concrete substrate is in good condition with minimal spalling or cracking. Because an Epoxy coating is dense, seamless and has low porosity, it is easy to clean and maintain. Coatings are available in a variety of colors, allowing you to match your floor’s new look to the rest of the environment.
Usually applied in 10-25 mils the system fills in small imperfections in a floor’s surface, so there is some levelling. The coatings are generally recommended for assembly and light manufacturing areas
While epoxy coatings offer good to excellent resistance against many chemicals and are easy to clean, urethanes offer better stain resistance.
Applications involving exposure to harsh chemicals may require corrosion control systems.
ESD CONTROL SYSTEMS
In industries where electronic components or volatile chemicals are involved, static electricity can result in significant damage, injury and financial loss. Even when people are equipped to handle static-sensitive devices, inadvertent contact can occur. ESD floor, wall and ceiling coatings and toppings can tie your entire ESD system together.
MMA
METHYL METHACRYLATE ACRYLIC FLOORING
The advantages of Methyl Methacrylate Acrylic Flooring are:
URETHANE FORMULATIONS
Key Benefits:
Polyurethanes feature high abrasion and impact resistance and provide great resistance to a wide spectrum of chemicals such as hydraulic fluids, jet fuel, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, gasoline, acids, alkalis, alcohol in addition to many others.
Urethanes are able to withstand heavy traffic and repeated cleanings and still provide a finished appearance.
Polyurethane Systems can be applied with skid-inhibiting materials.
VCT
VINYL COMPOSITION TILE – VCT
Although not regularly used in Pharmaceutical or Healthcare Cleanrooms, VCT can be used in Class 7 & 8 Electronics Cleanrooms, as a budget conscious flooring choice.
It can be purchased in a Electro Static Dissipative (ESD) configuration.
Disadvantages: Many seam joints, which will require extensive maintenance.
RAISED FLOORS
Raised access floors are used to maintain laminar flow from a HEPA Filtered ceiling directly down to the floor as well as a method of accessing services to equipment.
Airflow Options
Perforated panels are available in a wide variety of hole configurations and sizes. These panels enable you to achieve air volume and pressure differential requirements through damperless regulation of the airflow.
RAISED FLOOR – SOLID PANEL
SOLID PANEL BENEFITS:
RAISED FLOOR – GRATED PANEL
Grated Panel Benefits:
